As a coalition, we strive to promote and celebrate diversity in the field of human lactation. In 2021 we launched the Karen Evon Scholarship as way to both honor a longtime Sacramento lactation professional and as a way to  support diversity in the lactation community in Sacramento.  Karen Evon passed in late 2023 but her legacy will live on forever.  In 2024 we changed the name of the scholarship to the Karen Evon Memorial Scholarship.

This year we making SBC engagement a scoreable category when reviewing scholarship applications.  SBC engagement can include something as simple as attending monthly board meetings or something as complex as planning an SBC event.  There are other opportunities like volunteering at our Milk Drive and Baby Lounge in May or at our National Breastfeeding Celebration in August.  Check out our Volunteer Opportunities section for up-to-date opportunities.
